| Yup, that's right. Today, I really am proud of myself. That's not something I say regularly... actually, it's not something I say ever. Today, I'm saying it. ( Read more...Collapse ) | |

| I'm here, I'm here. Sorta. It's a lovely Sunday in which I'm procrastinating doing chores and I figure doing an update here might just be be the way to do it. So what's up with me? ( The lifeCollapse )( The questionsCollapse )( ProgressCollapse )( The setbacksCollapse )( FandomCollapse )There. That's the last six months of my life. I miss this place sometimes, but I can't seem to get back active here. I did notice a lot of LJ people have been wandering over onto tumblr and I've only just been finding some of you. So if you want to get spammed and keep up with me (and yes, I do want to keep up with you as well), you can find me over at tumblr and twitter. Word of caution: there will be spam and a lot of that spam might be about those pesky fandoms I mentioned above. There might be a lot of girls kissing going on, so be warned. *knuffels you all* | |

| Okay, so I did the whiny update, let's talk a bit of Fandom. Things that have been making my day lately. TV shows
- Legend of Korra: What else did you expect? I love this to pieces. All the characters and the art and the music. I want more. And Lin Beifon is my hero.
- The Walking Dead: I know, zombies are stupid but this show is fun. I especially Daryl and Maggie. They kick ass. And I'm starting to warm up to Michone.
- Once Upon A Time: I dunno. I blame Regina with her pretty lipstick and Red with her background skankiness and she's just awesome. And Snow is adorable. Yeah, this show is all about the ladies for me. Except maybe Rumpel.
- Game of Thrones: I'm throwing this here just because it's first, but I suppose I like the books better than the show. Jaime Lannister and Brienne of Tarth. Enough said.
Books
- When Women Were Warriors - Catherine Wilson: It's rare to stumble across a book that reminds me of what it was like to read Rosemary Sutcliff when I was a kid. This captures it perfectly. The atmosphere is much the same, even if it doesn't feel as historically correct. And yes, this is set in a matriarchal tribe with mostly (but not only) female warriors and yes, lesbian relationships. That just makes it more awesome. This book (even if it's in three parts) is the best I've read in ages.
- Angelfall - Susan Ee: It's about angels, but surprisingly enough, you won't get slammed with religious talk. Awesome book that kicks Hunger Games ass when it comes to female characters. It doesn't pull any punches and the ending will leave you so confused, but in a good way. (Warning: first in a trilogy and the rest isn't out yet.)
- Divergent - Veronica Roth: Some very nice distopia with some awesome characters.
- Ash - Malinda Lo: the lesbian retelling of Cinderella. I adore this book so much. Just read it.
- Huntress - Malinda Lo: Set in the same world as Ash, but prior to it. I think I like that I read this before Ash as to me, Ash is the stronger book, though Huntress gives more depth to its characters.
- The Dark Wife - Sarah Diemer: lesbian retelling of the story of Hades and Persephone. I know, there's a theme here, but I've been enjoying these books. Hades could have gotten more depth, but damn, it's a gorgeous book. I need to buy it.
That's about it. I'm sure I forgot something. Music wise, I've been enjoying The Black Keys and Mumford & Sons a lot. With a bit of Sarah Ferri in between, which is kind of odd and quirky, but adorable. Or something. ETA: Oh yeah, and I'm still to be found over at twitter as SheGoesOn and as Voronwer on goodreads if anyone's interested.

| After lj's screw up, it was only a matter of time before someone made a stylesheet fix. Anyone using Stylish can download a sheet from here. stuntpilot99 has restored the font and made it so you don't have to hover over a comment to see the actions. I've been playing around a bit with it myself and have added some extra features and fixed up some things that were bugging me personally. Please note that I'm using white as background, if you're using grey, you'll have to replace #FFFFFF with your grey gradient wherever you see it. First of all is the replacement of the blue colour on the default post. I added some code to change the blue of the comment and adjust the boxes around the page numbers, the top box with the actions on the post and the reply box. I've removed the background image at the top of the comments as well. The blue I'm using is #CAE1FF so if you don't like that, you can find and replace it. Just add the following code to the bottom of the script: Next I changed the colours of the time on the blue comment line and the checkbox to black. The light blue on darker blue was seriously annoying me. I debated changing the 'link' and 'collapse' as well, but in the end it seems better to keep these in blue. Just thought I'd share in case it's useful for someone aside from me. ETA: disprove made another stylesheet. I've been throwing both together a bit and added my own tweaks. Feel free to use this if you like by creating your own style in the Stylish addon. To do this, browse to a livejournal page then open Stylish and select 'Write new style' > 'For "livejournal.com"' and copy paste this between the brackets { }. | |

| Hey guys, I have created a new AIM account, because I'm using about four right now, and it's getting confusing. There's so many accounts on my old one of people who just never sign in anymore, or people who I haven't talked to in so many years that I'm not sure who they are.
So anyway. If you're looking for me, I'm now on SheGoesOn (Same as my twitter account as stupid people have stolen woodface in some places. Seriously, the nerve.) So add me, omg! - Mood:nostalgic

| Today is a pretty good day. It did start off all wrong, though. I had this weirdass dream that kind of stuck with me. I was on my honeymoon and our tall was this huge building with a view of Central Park. They'd arranged a suite for us on the roof (there were like little condos on there and it was hard to tell where Central Park began and where the garden on the roof did). For some weirdass reason my family was present at the suite. I'm going with it that they were making sure I didn't run off as the marriage was kind of arranged. To top it off, the hotel was hunted and management would kill off anyone staying at the top floor. There was one window I kept trying to close the curtains to, but somehow they wouldn't stay closed and you'd see the ghosts of another couple running around and being chased down by something.
Yeah, I have no idea. Somehow things got less creepy when I started making out with the reluctant husband... Seriously, no clue. No wonder I was fucking tired when I woke up. (Though the whole being up too late might have something to do with that as well.)
Aaaaaaaaaanyway. Things turned up after that. I got called into a meeting with my direct boss, his boss and someone from HR to tell me that I'm up for promotion. There will be an interview and possibly some tests (they couldn't tell me for sure either), but they recommended me and my chances are pretty good. Normally, unless I seriously stuff things up, it should turn out okay. I'm nervous about jinxing, though. OMG! This would mean more money, bigger bonuses and possible a car...
I need to get my driver's license, but this could considerably help with the loan for the house. I hope. More moneys, please!

| Despite a sense of disappointment after finishing Dragon Age 2, I find myself in the mood to read lots and lots of Hawke/Isabela fic. Lady Hawke, of course, because let's face it; beardy won't ever make a good champion.
Now if only there were a lot of fic out there. *sighs* I have cravings, fandom. Why do you not cater to them?
ETA: If anyone's got a prompt for that, feel free to throw it at me. Maybe I'll get some divine inspiration.

| Dear brain,
Stop finding all the characters you come across shiny and interesting. Yes, Sarah Shahi would make a damn awesome PB for Ashley Williams (Mass Effect). Yes, the username you came up with is still free. This is not a sign. Next week you'll have your Dragon Age and you can stop thinking about shiny characters.
Or you can try writing that Mass Effect fic that seems to be slowly bubbling in your head. Nothing beats fraternisation it seems. No matter what fandom it is in.
But damn, you're right. She'd be an awesome Ash.
Sigh. Anyone know good Ash/Shepard fic? I don't care if Shepard is male or female. I want it alllllll.

| *tilts head*
Does Ultraviolet by U2 work as a Crews/Reese song or am I crazy?
Somehow my search for Jadzia/Julian fic led me to reading Crews/Reese. I miss you, show.
